Wednesday morning we got to the job site and set to work on the railings and stairs. Jane and Kim started setting the railings in place.

Shortly after we arrived, we were joined by the boy's dog, Chester. Chester was set on helping us measure, hold and keep our hands busy when they weren't working on the job.

We had to set railings for the stairs, so we needed to dig holes for the posts to rest in at the bottom of the stairs. Here Ruby digs a hole, while Cobi fights one of the rocks in the North Dakota soil. In the background you can see Kim and Chris installing the railing.
After the railings were complete we set to task building the stairs. Jane made sure Chris and Ruby held the stairs straight while Cobi screwed the stairs to the deck.
As we broke for lunch, the railing was completed and all we needed to do was finish the stairs.

After a brief lunch, Chris notched the bottom stair to perfection and Cobi wonders how screws are made.

After school let out the boys came home. Ruby had more snacks and books to share with them. They were very exited to go up and down their new stairs!!!

Jane and Chris put the final screws in the bottom step and the job was DONE.
We posed for a final picture with the boys and said our goodbye's, and
Chris left the family with some of her words of wisdom.
Due to not being able to start on the job until Tuesday, the ramp will have to wait until the Spring time. Perhaps YOU will be coming out to help build it?
Chester would love to give you a helping hand!!!
