Finally we got to go out to the job site and get started building our deck and ramp! We got the good news at breakfast and loaded up our spacious rental and Mike's pickup and trailer with tools supplies and hard workers.
After we unloaded the trailer we began by setting the frame for the deck. Chris directed Ruby on how to square the frame before setting the cross beams, while Kim and Larue make sure Jane does a good job.

After we got the deck frame completed, Mike and Libby stopped back out to give us some more direction on mounting the frame to the home.
We set the posts in the bricks and secured them to the frame. Luckily we had someone as tall as Larue to lift the posts up to the inside of the frame.

After we got the posts set it was time for lunch. Ruby was nice enough to ring the lunch bell when it was time to gather for lunch.

After lunch, we started by leveling pavers to set additional posts for a center support and the steps for the deck.

Ruby and Larue put the final screws in the posts and we were ready to start putting on the decking.

Jane started on screwing down the decking while Larue measured for the next plank of decking.

Kim also took a turn at the power tools, screwing in the decking along side Jane.

At about 3 o'clock, Connor and Tanner got home from school. Ruby decided to take the lead of the welcome committee and got the boys a snack.

After snack time, the boys decided they would like to build something as well.

After the boys finished building, they decided we were not building fast enough, so they decided to come and help us out.

Finally with all the boys help, we were able to get the last piece of decking on after Chris made one final cut for the perfect fit.

When we finished up for the day, the home owners were able to inspect our handy work and enjoy the fruits of our labor and God's love. Tomorrow we will be back to put on the steps and hopefully start on the ramp.
